ANA's History on SPH
The American Nurses Association (ANA) has a long history of advocating for nurses’ well-being in the workplace. From developing policy on Safe Patient Handling in 1992, launching the ANA Handle with Care® Campaign in 2003 to advocate for policies and legislation that would result in the elimination of manual patient handling, to continuing to work to enact legislation on both the state AND federal level in 2009, ANA has been a leader, with a solid and proven track record, in the Safe Patient Handling arena.
